Lucy & Yak came to us looking for a fully-managed music service with playlists that defined their brand and evoked the correct mood from their customers and staff. They also needed a flexible hardware solution that could cater to their needs, with full visibility, support, and the ability to connect with Sonos speakers.

This is how we do it.

After hearing what Lucy & Yak needed, our music maestro James and his wonderful music team got to work. 

They started off creating a brand blueprint and used it to create the perfect playlists that aligned with the business and its objectives. Managed by our Relentless Support™ team, we ensured that the rollout was smooth, overseeing the connection of Startle devices to both Sonos and traditional speakers in Lucy and Yak’s stores.

The sound.

Lucy and Yak came to us with an issue - they had relatively little consistency in their sound across the brand. They wanted their music to embody their core brand values of comfort, inclusiveness, freedom and creativity -  “representation of everyone in the sound”.

As a result, the sound we put together is diverse and eclectic, from soothing contemporary R&B numbers, to upbeat Disco hits from the 80s (all scheduled with precision throughout the week to avoid any clunkiness, of course…).

So, depending on when you visit a Lucy and Yak store, you’ll be greeted with varying sounds and energies, which helps to keep the experience fresh and unique.

Lucy and Yak’s stores now have soundtracks as diverse as their customers, and as fun as their colourful dungarees. We’re still working hard with the team to really understand the brand and listening to their needs - for example, we’ve built them a special playlist for their monthly sensory friendly shopping sessions for neurodivergent customers - think dimmed lighting, a more mellow atmosphere, and the perfect considered music choices. We’re looking forward to continuing to see how our partnership can grow.
