On Wednesday 9th November, Startle and the BBC will be working together to provide a live version of the much-loved BBC 2 PopMaster quiz, in aid of BBC Children in Need!
Now in its 4th year of running for the cause, PopMaster Live uses Startle’s technology to provide a seamless digital quiz service that caters to large audiences. Teams will compete against each other in this music-based quiz, testing their knowledge of theme tunes, old classics, modern hits and more - all whilst helping to raise money for Children in Need.
This year’s event will take place at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow, where hundreds of people will gather to play. Participants will enjoy this evening of entertainment and fundraising in the company of the Radio 2 PopMaster host Ken Bruce himself, and Phil ‘The Collector’ Swern - creator of our exclusive Startle Quiz questions, and renowned music mogul.
Startle are proud that this live event has now become a staple of the annual Children in Need event schedule and, following its success, we’re now offering large hospitality venues the chance to host their own quiz nights!
BBC PopMaster live is a perfect source of entertainment for awards ceremonies, corporate hospitality, or as part of a large hotel’s entertainment package. In the safe hands of quizmaster Ken Bruce, teams of up to ten interact with the quiz using a handheld device that links to a multiple-choice system. After each round the scores are broadcast on large digital screens, allowing teams to see how they and their competitors are doing. The format of staggered rounds with drink and comfort breaks succeeds in building suspense and encouraging competition between teams - a great way to get an audience interacting and engaged! At the end of the quiz, the scores are announced and the winning team receives a framed PopMaster vinyl record and other prizes, presented by Ken.
Whether players are music experts or take a back seat in the team debates, you can be sure that PopMaster Live will provide an evening of fun that your audience won’t forget!
